DaringBuilds

About

A small team with an unusual client list.

DaringBuilds builds production software for organisations where failure is expensive. That has meant a UK payments company clearing into eight countries, a Nigerian state regulator’s statewide compliance register, tap-to-pay accepted on merchants’ own phones across two countries, and an African Union institution’s research platform.

We are deliberately small. The people who design your system are the people who write it, and the same people answer when something breaks at 2am. There is no account layer between you and the engineers, and no junior team quietly inheriting the work after the pitch.

Principles

What we actually believe.

Four positions we hold consistently. They are the reason our systems are still running, and occasionally the reason we turn work down.

Correctness before cleverness

In a ledger, a clever shortcut is a liability. We choose the boring, provable design every time: double-entry, idempotent, append-only. It is slower to write and far cheaper to own.

We build the whole thing

API, admin console, customer app, deployment, monitoring. When one team owns all of it, nothing falls into the gap between vendors, which is where most projects actually die.

Architecture is written down

Before product code, there is a document: data model, service boundaries, failure modes, retry behaviour. You approve it. It becomes the contract, and it stops scope arguments before they start.

We are there after launch

Systems we shipped years ago are still in production, still maintained. That is not a marketing line. It is the reason clients hand us the next project.
